differential equations of reflector

differential equations of reflector

differential equations of reflector or Direct Problem calculation of the light distribution (illuminance distribution on a working plane or luminous intensity distribution) of a  system when the reflector shape and parameters of the light  source are specified. As  a  particular case,  SHAPE supports calculation for uniform light distribution.

Light source is presented as a point (for rotational and translational reflectors) or a line (for translational reflector) with given luminous intensity distribution.

Common features for direct and inverse problems:

  • the design method is based on exact solution of differential equations for reflector including the concept of geometric optics
  • the fact that illuminated space can be partly shaded by reflector is taken into account
  • utilization factor of the light system is calculated
